Collecting Logs from the LanSchool Connection Server

Collecting Logs from the LanSchool Connection Server

Overview

To assist in troubleshooting, LanSchool Support may require you to enable logging on your LanSchool Connection Server.
The ability to read and write the Windows Registry is required. It is recommended to contact your local IT Support to setup logging.

Enable Logging on LanSchool Connection Server

  1. Download Debug View on the LanSchool Connection Server: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/debugview.aspx
  2.  On the LCS, launch Debug View
  3.  In debug view, go to the Capture menu>>Capture Global Win32
  4. On the LCS status page, select Logging in the left column.
  5. Set the Severity Level to All, and enter -1 in the Specific Student.
  6. Click Submit Query.
  7. Debug view will now capture all LCS events.
  8. Once you have gathered enough data, about 2-3 minutes, save the debug view log and send it to support@lanschool.com

NOTE: If the server status page is not available, you will need to create the following registry keys on the LanSchool Connection Server and restart the service:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LanSchool
DebugOutputDesired: DWORD => 0xffffffff
DebugSeverityLevel: DWORD => 0
DebugTrace: DWORD => 1
