Installing LanSchool Student on Android

Installing LanSchool Student on Android

Overview

The LanSchool Connection Service (LCS) should be installed and set up before continuing with the software installation below. If you have any questions or problems setting up the LCS server, please contact your LanSchool sales or support representative.

With the LanSchool Student app for Android, teachers using the LanSchool Teacher Console can engage and interact with students using Android tablets and devices.

Due to the design of the Android operating system, not all LanSchool features and capabilities are available on these devices. Please see the Using LanSchool with Android devices section for a list of supported features.

LanSchool Student 9.1 supports Android 8 or greater.

Screen Overlay

After the app is installed and configured, there is a small LanSchool Student icon that is always on the screen. This icon is necessary to enable the Student to show windows or messages even when the Student isn’t the foreground application. The window appears as a small LanSchool icon that is semi transparent. It can be repositioned anywhere on the screen by pressing and dragging it. It will remember where it’s placed and remain there even if the device is rebooted. Tapping on the icon will open (bring to the front) the Student application. The window will also show a small “indicator” dot in the bottom right corner if there are any unread Chats or Messages from the Teacher.   Note: The screen overlay feature is only available on devices running Android 9.x and newer.

Using LanSchool with Android devices

LanSchool Student for Android allows you to connect with your classroom.  Get homework assignments, take tests, chat with your teacher and much more.  Icons across the top of the screen provide more information about what is happening in your digital classroom.

  1. In the Teacher Console, select the Class List button.
  2. Select Manual Class Lists.

  3. Select the class in the list.
  4. Select Start Class.
