Troubleshooting WiFi Tampering

Overview

With the latest version of Windows 11, LanSchool Classic is unable to retrieve a list of available SSIDs on the student machine unless Location Services is enabled on the device.

Enabling Location Services

To enable Location Services directly on the device:
  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security.
  3. Click on Location.
  4. Toggle on Location Services.
To enable Location Services through Registry:
  1. Hold the Windows Key and press “R” to bring up the Run dialog box.
  2. Type "regedit" then press "OK".
  3. Navigate to this policy key  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CapabilityAccessManager\ConsentStore\location
  4. Right click on the Value and select Modify...
  5. Type or select Allow. If the Value is set to No or 0, change it to Yes or 1 to enable location services.
